The Governor is the representative of His Majesty the King and the Constitutional Head of State in Anguilla.

The constitution gives the Governor certain responsibilities which include oversight for external affairs, defence, internal security and international financial services or any directly related aspect of finance. They are also the presiding officer of Executive Council.
The Governor also takes a close interest in good governance issues. Responsibility for the Public Service has been devolved to the Deputy Governor who is a locally appointed Anguillian. The Governor’s Office staff support the Governor in the discharge of their responsibilities and enabling them to carry out a programme of public functions.
As well, the Governor’s Office staff work closely with their Government of Anguilla counterparts on a wide range of issues. Making good use of the Overseas Territories Programme Fund and the Jubilee Fund is also a priority for the Governor’s Office in Anguilla.
